Physiotherapy Treatments

The Physiotherapist’s assessment, including discussion of relevant history and objective examination, will assist in identifying a comprehensive problem list. These concerns will be different for everyone, but could include:

  • Swelling
  • Pain
  • Stiffness
  • Weakness
  • Poor stability or balance
  • Difficulty participating fully in a sport
  • Difficulty walking or moving
  • Upcoming surgery requiring pre-op strengthening

From this individualized list, the Physiotherapist will work with the client to identify realistic and achievable goals. For example:

  • Short-term goals: decreasing pain and swelling; increasing movement
  • Medium-term goals: increase strength and balance
  • Long-term goals: return to playing a sport; return to work; restore or maintain independence at home; better post-surgical outcomes

The Physiotherapists at Lawrence Park Chiropractic and Physiotherapy pride themselves on taking the time to work one-on-one with patients to formulate a treatment plan that focuses on active achievement of goals.

Treatment Components:

  • Joint mobilization or manipulation
  • Soft tissue release/massage
  • In-clinic and at-home exercise programmes
  • Electrotherapeutic modalities including ultrasound, interferential current (IFC), TENS, and electro-acupuncture
  • Therapeutic Taping
  • Education about dos and don’ts specific to your injury
  • Ergonomic consultation

In addition, our Physiotherapists have a wide network of specialists and other healthcare professionals, and will not hesitate to make a referral when appropriate.
